SDL M1 - Activities

 Sustainability  Literacy

_____________________________________________________________________________________

In this Unit you will watch the introductory video which will help you to identify the importance of Sustainable Development Literacy (SDL). The definition of sustainability which was selected by experts is as follows: „Sustainability is a concept, a goal, and a strategy needed for the reconciliation of social justice, ecological integrity, and the wellbeing of all living systems on the planet. The goal is to create an ecologically and socially just world within the means of nature without compromising future generations. Sustainability refers to the process or strategy of moving towards a sustainable future.“

There will be the opportunity for you to explore general information sources to increase familiarity with the term SDL. We recommend the United Nations (UN) website in order to discover the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Identify which types of SDL are in connection with achieving the UN SDGs. You will be able to recognize how characteristics of the different types of SDL affect the world. In this Unit, the awareness of inequality in access to and attainment of education, particularly between girls and boys and in rural areas, will be raised. You will identify the reasons for the lack of equitable access to quality education and lifelong learning opportunities and you will recognize the intrinsic value of education, analyze and identify your own learning needs for your personal development.
