LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES


1.Understand many of the ethical, legal and socio-economic issues surrounding information and information technology
1.1 Demonstrate an understanding of intellectual property, copyright, and fair use of copyrighted material (the ethics of downloading and using electronic files such as digital images, video, or MP3s; fair use implications of transforming or combining works to create something new with a different purpose)
1.2 Demonstrate an understanding of what constitutes plagiarism and give proper credit to others’ ideas. Select and use an appropriate documentation style to cite or give credit to original information sources. 
1.3 Utilize materials, practices, phrases, documents, or reproducible visual or statistical data without copyright restrictions (seek out government publications free of copyright or Creative Commons licensed materials).
1.4 Take appropriate steps to obtain permission to use copyrighted material (contact authors, publishers, and producers for permission, or purchase content through appropriate vendors).
1.5 Comply with institutional policies on access to information including those related to printing, downloading, using, or disseminating copies of articles, and policies related to human subject’s research.

2.Communicate the information effectively to others.
2.1 Choose a communication medium and format that best supports the purposes of the task and the intended audience.
2.2 Incorporate principles of design and communication.
2.3 Communicate clearly and with a style that supports the purposes of the intended audience.
