LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES
1. Summarize the main ideas to be extracted from the information gathered.
1.1 Read the text and select the main ideas.
1.2 Restate textual concepts in his/her own words and select data accurately.
2. Articulate and apply initial criteria for evaluating both the information and its sources.
2.1 Examine and compare information from various sources in order to evaluate credibility, validity, accuracy, authority, and point of view or bias.
2.2 Analyze the structure and logic of supporting arguments or methods.
2.3 Recognize prejudice, deception, or manipulation.
2.4 Recognize the cultural, physical, or another context within which the information was created and understand the impact of context on interpreting the information.
3. Determine whether the initial query should be revised.
3.1 Determine if the information found adequately addresses the information need and identify any remaining gaps.
3.2 Determine whether alternative strategies, tools, or investigative methods should be used to fill gaps.
3.3 Revise strategies as necessary, and continue to search using the new strategy, tool, or investigative methods until all the needed information is obtained.
