1. What does Media and Information Literacy (MIL) mean?
Learning Objective 1 of Module 1 contains an introductory video and four (4) reading comprehension activities that will help you become familiar with MIL basic concepts, namely with key definitions and skills, to use as a backbone when you, as a teacher or as a librarian, wish to be active in MIL   

2. Learn about MIL history and current trends 

Learning Objective 2 of Module 1 contains one (1) reading comprehension activity that will inform you briefly about MIL history and background and two (2) activities that will help you reflect on MIL current trends, to use as a backbone when you, as a teacher or as a librarian, wish to be active in MIL  

3. Reflect on how to collaborate with colleagues and librarians to foster MIL transferable skills  

Learning Objective 3 of Module 1 contains two (2) activities that will help you reflect on how to collaborate with your colleagues and with librarians to help your pupils, students, the community you serve, family and friends develop those MIL skills, which are transferable in various scientific subjects and in all life settings

Activity 9 - MIL M1 - Learning Objective 3


Be active and creative in MIL

  • Think of a topic based on your expertise, e.g., MIL practices/examples in social sciences, or in language, or in natural sciences and mathematics, or in technology, or in the arts, or in history, etc.
  • Search for specific information regarding your topic and evaluate them in terms of relevance and validity [for more details on how to perform this exercise you may go to MIL M3 Activities - UK Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) Information Literacy Model - An enriched overview by EDUCABILITY ]
  • Prepare a short, properly cited essay/ppt/infographic/video and share it with your pupils, students, the community you serve, family and friends
